Good morning, I believe this is an American Bird Grasshopper, according to my research. I consider myself more knowledgeable with regard to birds, but that's my guess on this guy. Anyway, I love this photo. As is my custom, I just take one shot, as if it is film. I didn't edit this one at all. I loved the result. Hope you like it too. I spotted him hanging out while I was working, and the store was super busy. It reminded me to come back to the moment. There he was -- while the world was bustling around him -- just taking in the scene and chilling. A good reminder for me.
I was doing some reading this morning that was really helpful. It was about calming the thoughts and slowing down the mind, in order to be able to better hear the inner voice.
Of course, spiritual folks talk about this all of the time, but I needed the reminder.
Things that help me slow down the thoughts: think of the word Stop, breathe, notice what's around me, say the Serenity Prayer, write, let go, dance, distract myself with something comforting and of course, hopefully, meditation. This morning, I'm reminded that everything takes practice, and I plan to be more observant of my response to racing or obsessive thinking. I've been enjoying reading some Buddhist texts...different spiritual suggestions hit me at different times. I'm pretty much open to varying faiths and practices.
Anyway, that's the goal for today...to notice when my mind begins to become too future-oriented or obsessive. The quick thinking comes in handy when writing fiction, for sure, and so, sometimes, the trick is to channel it wisely. :)
Hey, our difficulties can be viewed as gifts! That's right...I'm gifted. And you are as well. It's just how I use my mind...that's key.
Perhaps this will help you as well. I hope you have an amazing day. I am definitely going to take a walk and notice the beauty of the trees in Autumn. All we have is this moment, and I thank you for being here.

If you've read one of my four novels or my nonfiction book, I thank you. Pass on the word. And leave a review! If you enjoy spiritual writings and essays, you'll love my fifth book, RECOVER WILDLY: DAILY SPIRITUAL ESSAYS FOR SURVIVORS. If you like to escape and get lost in another world, you'll love my fiction. AUTHOR PAGE.
